Re: The New Pacific Wall: The U.S., Australia, and New Zealand Control the Pacific Islands

To the Editor:

The article you published ("New Pacific Wall: The U.S., Australia, and New Zealand Control the Pacific Islands," by Andre Vltchek), was sadly inaccurate and lacking in objectivity. Where are France, Britain and Chile mentioned as colonial players in the Pacific arena (French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, Les Terres Australes, Pitcairn Island, Easter Island), not to mention the cheque-book diplomacy of the PRC and Taiwan? To address all the "omitted" facts would require another entire article, but I think a prudent editor should highlight that the article printed may not be factually sound... The author of the article does raise valid points but, alas, his credibility is undermined by his lack of factual research.

Qantas has no ownership stake in Air Vanuatu. It is 100 percent owned by the Government of Vanuatu, and has been since it's establishment in 1988.
