Re: Public Schools in Sierra Leone Gasping for Life Support

Our children are taught right from wrong when growing up.

I appreciate your efforts to bring attention to the educational problems facing Sierra Leone. However, I find your assessment baseless, irresponsible and disrespectful to all Sierra Leoneans. Of course we are concerned about the gross mismanagement of funds in the government, one of the consequences being that our educational system is being undermined. But government officials mismanaging funds does not mean that our children, when growing up, are taught that it's okay to steal. How in the world could you come up with such a conclusion? Our children are taught right from wrong when growing up. I certainly was, and from what I witnessed while growing up there, all kids are taught right from wrong. Individuals grow up and make their own choices. So, if some government officials and other nonprofit reps are choosing to steal money and supplies, this does not mean that their parents, or whoever raised them, taught them that it was okay to steal.
