Dirk Smith has been a part-time freelance feature article writer since 1989, and is now full-time, with a focus researching and writing about information technology and intelligence services. In 2012 he won a Gold Tabbie Award in international journalism for a how-to article. His recent piece "NSA Security Expert Worries about Mobility, Cloud" was published in May 2012 by Network World Magazine. He is currently working on an article written at the request of National Security Agency about its intern program. Mr. Smith's work has appeared in CIO, PC World, ComputerWorld, PC Advisor and others in the United States as well as other countries ranging from Australia to Norway. He also just completed the manuscript for a novel titled "The Programmer’s Code."
