Prize Ceremony for 'Know Your Afghanistan' SMS Contest
KABUL, Afghanistan (Afghan Wireless) — The prize distribution ceremony of "Know Your Afghanistan Contest" was held on the premises of Ariana Radio and Television Wednesday.
As an Afghan company, Afghan Wireless launched the "Know Your Afghanistan" SMS contest with the single-minded objective of creating excitement among young Afghans to develop interest in the rich cultural heritage of the nation. The basic questions about Afghanistan were asked on Ariana Radio and TV with an incentive to win 10 new, powerful motorcycles through a drawing held after the Aug. 19 celebrations marking National Independence Day. In addition, 200 lucky customers won a daily allowance of 100 Afghanis.
Addressing the crowd, Mr. Ehsan Bayat, chairman of Afghan Wireless, said, "I am very happy to see the participation from distant cities like Badakhshan, as well as female participation, which shows the interest this contest has created in all segments of the population and their excitement about the country." While handing over the keys to enjoy the ride on these gifts from Afghan Wireless, he also advised them not to forget to wear a helmet when riding a bike!
The winners were very excited, especially those who came from cities other than Kabul. One joyfully exclaimed that Afghan Wireless is "a true Afghan Company since it has brought a national feeling of unity to all of us by giving away prizes to people from many cities other than Kabul, which no other company does."
The winners included three Afghans from Kabul, one from Khost, two from Kanadahar, one from Jalalabad, one from Kunduz, one from Badakhshan, and one from Hirat.
