Detention, Torture and Killing of Afghan Women Continues

After the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, they adopted a misogynistic and vengeful policy against Afghan women.
The Taliban, under the name of "unknown persons," killed dozens of women and imprisoned and tortured hundreds of others.
Throughout 2022, the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan introduced and enforced some of the worst gender-based discriminatory policies seen anywhere in the world.
Additionally, there has been a sharp rise in child marriage cases. Under Taliban rule, girls as young as 13 can be given in marriage to a man of any age.
